Kiwatu and the Land of Giants, Chapter 13Kiwatu and the Land of Giants, Chapter 13 by DeethIrteen
It was night. The sky was blocked out by thick clouds, letting little light to shine though. The hard dirt was eventually replaced by patches of snow. The further north Kiwatu and Ynn travelled, the snow grew thicker and deeper.
Mount Baraflima was a single, massive mountain, surrounded by a frozen lake. A feint mist rose up from the lake, drifting up lazilly into the air. The mountain was the highest and broadest of any other mountain Kiwatu may have seen before. But considering it was always from afar, perhaps he didn't have a good judgement either way. In any case, the peak pierced through the cloudsheet, making it hard to gauge how high it truly was.
As Kiwatu looked around, there wasn't a single spark of life to be seen. "Is th-this really where Ku-be-beba lives?"
A single, narrow land bridge was all that led up from the ground to the mountain. The land bridge connected to a mountain path that ventured up and around the side of the mountain. The bridge was more than wide eno

The sun drifted towards the west as Ynn dashed along the sands to the south. Bit by bit, the sand changed in color from orange to white. The further south they travelled, the clearer the sky became as clouds drifted away. The distant, eastern sea grew closer and more visible. The sand dunes were steadilly replaced by small mountains The scent of saltwater drifted over the land. Kiwatu could hear waves crashing on the shore. The winds slowly died down, becoming almost dormant.
"Is all of this the Gallant Cove? It looks more like a beach. Maybe the cove is a bit further south. Go faster, Ynn!"
The two kept travelling south until the waves grew much louder. The sparkling sand no longer burned the bottoms of Ynn's feet. The cloudless sky was perfectly reflected off the great blue sea. Kiwatu had never seen a body of water so big before. The mountains formed a great, thick wall along the western side. High up above, Kiwatu could see trees and other plantlife. It was easilly a hundred-foot c

Another night of rest brought with it another dream.
The ninth giant was incredibly pleased with herself; she had perfected her puppet design. It was a young girl, with an almost life-like quality. The puppet was given an emblem on her forehead, as a sign that she was a friend to the giants.
The ninth giant commanded her puppet to go out to the domains of the other giants. The puppet was to dance and play before them. The giants liked the puppet, and they all gathered together beneath the mountains to the north to watch it dance. While they were distracted, the ninth giant went out to the unwitting mortals...
Everything went black as the ninth giant swooped down.
Kiwatu woke up bright and early the next day. He hunted down a fish from the closest river he could find. After cooking and eating the fish, he woke up Ynn, and the two travelled off towards the Temple of Mguvu. As the sun rose, Kiwatu was able to spot the towers of the temple, and they made their way towards it.

Kiwatu panicked as he was sealed into darkness yet again. Malkamba pinned him to the roof of her ridged maw. Her tongue pressed against his face, licking him allover. He was covered allover with globs of saliva.
"I must say, you taste very good, little mortal." The giant chuckled around him. Kiwatu struggled against her tongue, trying to push it away. This only served to garner another chuckled. "Oh, you're a fighter, are you? That's adorable!"
Malkamba suddenly opened her maw wide, Kiwatu fell down onto the tongue, his back slapping against the wet muscle. Water flowed between the jaws, splashing against Kiwatu and sending him sliding towards the throat. He struggled to grasp onto something, his chest heaving as he slid further and further towards the throat. But before he passed over the threshhold, Malkamba tilted her head forwards, sending him sliding back to the top of her tongue. She pinned him against the back of her lower fangs, continuing to taste his face.
"This is when thing
